Hey, we’re Jake McCarthy and Ryan Welch, and we’re the new owners and leadership team behind Sprout Studio.

Over the past 15 years, together we’ve built successful businesses in the industry, helping thousands of photographers simplify their workflow, grow their income, and reclaim their time.

Like so many of you we once juggled too many disconnected tools that made running a creative business harder than it needed to be. That frustration led us to build solutions through our other brands—Freedom Edits, Artwork Collective, and Freedom Print Lab—making post-production, print sales, and passive income easier for photographers everywhere. Incorporating a CRM into Freedom was always part of the plan (we’d even started building one). But when the opportunity to lead Sprout Studio came along, it felt like the best of both worlds. We didn’t just want to run a software company—we saw Sprout’s potential as the missing piece we had always wished for when growing our own businesses. With a fresh perspective, we knew we could take it to the next level.
